|
Q: Why is that?
A: AirMagnet adds special drivers to produce a wealth
of information from lower lever RF signal noise level,
packet error rate, to higher level ping, diag, and find
utilities to assist network professional to administer
and secure their wireless network. It is also designed
to provide seamless integration to support other wireless
LAN applications on your pocket PC. Unlike other brands
of WLAN protocol analyzers, AirMagnet driver is plug
and play, and it does not turn your computer into a
protocol analyzer only instrument. However, even with
the addition of AirMagnet drivers, your iPaq or Laptop
continues to function with all the things you expect
like acess to email, the Internet or corporate resources.

Q: When using the ping and traceroute utilities
on the AirMagnet Handheld, what happens to the AirMagnet's
analysis tools?
A: Ping and traceroute are active applications requiring
general communication through the network card. While
these applications are running, the live capture function
will be paused-so these tools are not available to generate
traffic for live capture. They are best used to test
the connectivity of other wireless stations.
